PORTLAND, Ore. — We saved the most populous for last.
In our first-ever exploration of the Hottest 'Hoods for residential real estate in each of the Portland metro area's four counties, we began with the west side suburbs of Washington County, rambled through the bucolic terrain of Clackamas County and jumped the Columbia River to scout out Vancouver's most active ZIP codes in the first quarter of 2021.
Now we lace up our city shoes and turn our attention to the most urban part of Portland, Multnomah County.
The pandemic and civil unrest of the last year certainly hasn't dampened enthusiasm for the heart of the Rose City as buyers seemed to put on their rose-colored glasses.
Multnomah County accounted for a solid third of the home sales in the first quarter and had the second-highest average median sale price (behind Clackamas) at $504,595. Homes did sell significantly slower than the other counties though, at 11 average median days on the market. In Washington County they sold in half the time.
Among the top 26 ZIP codes with at least 30 sales last quarter, the three that had the most sales were:
- 97206, Foster/Powell (214)
- 97217, Arbor Lodge/Kenton (163)
- 97219, Multnomah Village (157).
The three that fetched the highest median prices were:
- 97210, Nob Hill ($750,000)
- 97221, Sylvan/Bridlemile ($720,000)
- 97212, Irvington/Grant Park ($719,000)
And the two that saw homes sell in a median of just four days were the only two not within the city limits of Portland:
- 97080, Gresham
- 97060, Troutdale
