PORTLAND, Ore. — The Rose City is home to big names when it comes to shoes. Companies like Nike, Adidas, and Under Armor have a major presence here. Now, footwear company HOKA is expanding in Portland.
The running shoe company has yet to say anything about how many people it plans on hiring. Though, what we do know is that the company will be leasing three levels of prime real estate in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Southwest Portland, right across the street from Providence Park.
The building is where the Oregonian used to house its printing facility. KGW spoke with Monique Claiborne, CEO of Greater Portland Inc. Her company helps locate businesses to Portland and HOKA is the latest one that’s expanding.
“Portland’s real estate market, it’s talent availability and established footwear industry make it an ideal location for any company to expand in the Portland market,” said Claiborne.
KGW reached out to the company for a comment but didn’t hear back. HOKA President Robin Green said this in a statement to the Portland Business Journal:
“We are excited to be a part of this building in Portland’s Stadium District to provide our teams with an inspiring space to support our exceptional brand culture and commitment to excellence.”
While, HOKA has to say how many jobs are coming to Portland with the expansion. There are six positions posted on their website. Those jobs include everything from a product engineer to a designer position.
While, we’re still waiting to learn more about when the company will be filling the space, Claiborne said one thing is for sure, "HOKA leasing three floors in the building is a clear indication that our comeback is in full swing."
KGW reached out to the company who owns the building about when HOKA could move in, and they said they aren’t commenting on the details of the lease.
