PORTLAND, Ore. — Pizza Thief is teaming up with Great Notion to take over the food service at the brewery’s N.W. 28th Ave. location.
Great Notion has been serving upscale brewpub food made by its own team at that location since it opened. That menu will be available through the end of this month, said Great Notion CEO Paul Reiter. Starting May 1 Pizza Thief will move into the kitchen with a new menu.
For Pizza Thief, the partnership means a second location. The pizza maker opened its first shop in 2021 at 2610 N.W. Vaughn St. It specializes in pizza with naturally leavened sourdough and whole grain crust.
“After two years of business on Northwest Vaughn Street we have outgrown capacity to meet demand,” Pizza Thief co-founder Tony Pasquale said. “Great Notion offers us the opportunity to not only service their brewery but to run the much bigger kitchen as a commissary kitchen to set us up for future expansion across the greater Portland Metro.”
Restaurants with multiple locations use a commissary kitchen as a central prep site.
This is not the first time Great Notion has partnered with a well-known culinary partner. Food at its Alberta Street location is provided by Matt’s BBQ Tacos, a popular food cart that has garnered local and national attention.
“At Great Notion, we'd like to focus on what we do best, which is brew the best beer in the world,” Reiter said. “We like to partner with like-minded businesses that are the best in their class, like Matt's for BBQ tacos and Pizza Thief for pizza.”
