PORTLAND, Ore. — A world renowned Taiwanese restaurant appears to be working on establishing its first Portland location in Pioneer Place shopping center, though a spokesperson could not confirm.
According to public business registration records first tweeted by local architect Iain Mackenzie, Din Tai Fung has registered a new LLC for a Pioneer Place location. Additionally, permits indicate more than $2.3 million in renovations at Pioneer Place have been applied for, “clearly for a restaurant tenant” according to Mackenzie, of the Next Portland blog.
A representative for Din Tai Fung was not able to confirm the restaurant would be coming to Pioneer Place. The newest location the restaurant is establishing is in New York, and any other new locations would be announced in the restaurant’s newsletter, the spokesperson said.
Din Tai Fung established its first Oregon location in Tigard in 2018 at Washington Square and is credited with helping introduce America to xiao long bao soup dumplings, according to Willamette Week.
