PORTLAND, Ore. — A lot changed in 2020, but the year did not bring Portland's residential real estate market to a halt. Instead, it got busier.
According to the Business Journal's reporting over the past year, real estate activity in the Portland metro area remained strong in 2020, with the volume of home sales and median home prices increasing and the time on market for home listings falling.
Our Hottest 'Hoods series of real estate indictors over 2020 found that homes were selling in greater homes, at higher prices and in less time. In spite of the rising home prices, we also found affordable neighborhoods to call home in the area.
But we are not the only ones delving into the area's real estate market. The website Niche.com, which collects data on real estate and education nationwide, recently published a list of the best neighborhoods to buy a home in the city. It based its conclusions on more than a dozen factors, including home values, cost of living, home ownership and quality of schools.
