ST. HELENA, Calif. A Vancouver, Wash., woman has won $10,000 and a year s worth of chicken after beating out nearly 2,000 others in a recipe contest.
Rebecca Spence won the second annual Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest with her Crispy Orange Chicken with Fennel, Avocado and Orange salad, which featured locally-grown ingredients.
Spence competed against five finalists from California, Oregon and Washington. Each of the other finalists won $1,000.
All of our contestants recipes highlighted the agricultural bounty of California, Oregon and Washington while at the same time making Foster Farms local chicken the star of the dish, said marketing director Ira Brill.
