PORTLAND - A local group of investors sharing a little, to gain a lot, for some projects that ordinarily wouldn't get recognized.
Awesome Portland is an investment club looking for a different type of return on investment, by paying it forward to the community.
Every other month, members kick-in $100 each. After listening to presentations from those looking for funding, they decide who gets the no-strings attached grant.
All different types of worthwhile ventures and adventures have been funded.
This past January, the Love-Bomb-Go-Go Marching Band was one.
With their $1,000 grant they were able to buy wireless microphones.
The band plans to perform more free shows and even play to help others whose ideas need funding.
We wish to do good in the world, and love bomb was kind of an interesting combination for bad and good, and go-go refers to our interest in 1960s music, said band member Mars.
Thursday night, they broke with tradition an awarded two ideas.
