LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- There’s another way to honor Louisville’s native son while satisfying your taste buds, just head to the Russell Neighborhood.
Head into Chef-Space on 18th and Muhammad Ali Boulevard to enjoy the Champ's favorite meal, that's baked chicken, mac and cheese, spinach and green peas.
Chef Space, which recently opened at the former Jay's Cafeteria space is a kitchen incubator that helps newly formed businesses grow to the next level.
The business owners provide access to a commercial kitchen with professional equipment.
Lucretia's Kitchen is serving up the Champ's dish, an up and coming soul food restaurant.
The owner says there is no greater influence than Muhammad Ali and what better way to bring people together than a hearty plate.
“I went and did my research on some of his favorite foods," says Lucretia Thompson. "and when I pulled it up it was some baked chicken we have here, some spinach for strength, the green peas that will bring you to your knees and some macaroni and cheese. So that's how we came up with it just to pay some homage and we want everybody to come here and not only pay homage with this meal to the Champ but to come and tour Chef Space and see what it's all about."
A full plate of the Champ's meal is $10.
We're told Lucretia's Kitchen plans to serve the meal today through Friday from noon to six.
Chef-Space is on the route for Ali's procession. ,
