Happy couple welcomes first baby born at Portland hospital in 2024

The unnamed baby girl is the first child of Pooja Kotadia and Rounak "Ron" Gandhi, both from Portland. She was born at 12:12 a.m. at OHSU.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The first baby born at a Portland hospital in the new year was born at 12:12 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).

The unnamed baby girl weighed six pounds, eight ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long.

She's the first child of Pooja Kotadia and Rounak "Ron" Gandhi, both from Portland.

Kotadia, a medical doctor, is the director of the hospitalist service at Hillsboro Medical Center. Gandhi is a clinic manager for AFC Urgent Care, according to OHSU.
