PORTLAND, Ore. — May marks Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

AANHPI Month was recognized by President Joe Biden on April 30, 2021. It was originally known as Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month, which was officially recognized by former President Barack Obama in 2009, until 2021.

Below are some events happening this month to celebrate and honor AANHPI Heritage Month.

To find more events, look through these guides and calendars:

Naito took an interest in transforming downtown starting in the 1960s, shaping many iconic places and projects — the Japanese American Historical Plaza, the preservation of Old Town, the Portland Saturday Market, the downtown transit mall, the Portland Galleria and Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

This exhibition is supported in memory of Bill and Micki Naito.
