Mike Zupan, owner of , and roughly two dozen of his employees were up early on Thursday morning, packing food boxes at the Portland Police Bureau's Sunshine Division warehouse in North Portland.
Zupan's hosted the Bite of Zupan's event earlier this month at the Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland to raise money for the Sunshine Division. Enough money was raised that night to fill 300 food boxes with the makings of a Thanksgiving meal for Portland households in need.
has been providing emergency food and clothing relief to Portland-area families in need since 1923.
Zupan's Markets, meanwhile, was founded by Mike Zupan's parents over 30 years ago. They now have four grocery stores to serve local customers.
