Seahawks royalty Russell Wilson and Ciara got married in a castle wedding in England last July, but that wasn’t their first destination choice.
The couple’s wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, gave The Knot all the details in an exclusive interview.
“They were first getting married in North Carolina, but they called it off due to the transgender bathroom laws,” said Weiss.
In May, North Carolina and the federal government sued each other over a new state law that required people to use the restroom that corresponds with their gender at birth.

According to Weiss, the pair also considered getting married in Paris before deciding on an hour outside of Liverpool. They shared their special day with 110 of their closest friends ... and Ciara's 13-foot long dress.
