PORTLAND, Ore. — Rising rap star Janae Wherry — better known as "Sexyy Red," who rose to fame in 2023 with her mega-hit "Pound Town" — announced her tour kicking off in August with Portland as the second stop.

The 26-year-old St. Louis, Mo., native will be hitting stages across the country on a 26-city tour stop, "Sexyy Red 4 President," a play off her previous presidential theme project, "In Sexxy We Trust." The tour will feature Hunxho, Loe Shimmy and fellow St. Louis native BlakeIANA to join her as opening acts.

The tour kicks off in Seattle on Aug. 22. The "Pound Town" raptress will be stopping in Portland on Friday, August 23, 7 p.m. at the Moda Center. Pre-sale tickets go on sale on June 27 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with tickets for the general public going on sale on June 28 at 10 a.m.

Red is known for her red-themed looks, authenticity, confidence and unfiltered, raunchy delivery. In a male-dominated industry, many online users believe the self-proclaimed "Female Gucci Mane" is reclaiming and switching up the traditional ideals of female empowerment through her music.

The "Rich Baby Daddy" artist revealed in an interview with Complex that she was inspired to start rapping after catching her boyfriend cheat on her.

She first went viral in 2018 for her song "Ah Thousand Jugs," which sampled Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.” She later released several songs, but it wasn't until 2023 when she found fame with her mega-hit "Pound Town." She soon gained the attention of the music industry after music icon Nicki Minaj hopped on the remix “Pound Town 2,” marking her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart

The rest is history. The "SkeeYee" artist has gone on to collaborate with many artists, such as SZA, NLE Choppa, Summer Walker, Travis Scott, but most frequently, rapper Drake — playing a role in her mainstream success from hits like "Get It Sexxy" to the most recent "U MY Everything," causing a stir after Drake, featured on the song, rapped over Metro Boomin's “BBL Drizzy” beat (a diss from Boomin to Drake).
