PORTLAND, Ore. — This year's Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade features a float from the city of Vancouver for the first time in 30 years.
The float is being designed by Fieldwork Flowers, a Vancouver-based florist. On Instagram, the florist said the float's concept draws inspiration from the fruit of the Pacific Northwest and the Grand Floral parade's history in displaying homegrown roses — but with a twist. The float will be covered in over 2,000 locally farmed flowers instead of roses.

The Grand Floral Parade kicks off on Saturday at 10 a.m. The route starts at the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum and ends at the Lloyd Center. It enters the street on Broadway and travels along Weidler to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, then to Lloyd Boulevard. The whole parade is expected to last at least two hours.
Following the parade, all floats will be on display along Southwest Naito Parkway downtown Saturday afternoon and Sunday adjacent to the Rose Festival CityFair.
