PORTLAND-- The Rose Festival Foundation announced that fourth-generation Oregonian Gerry Frank will be the Grand Marshal of the 2013 Grand Floral Parade.
Frank was Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield and has been an honorary director of the Rose Festival Foundation since 1969.
The superlatives and accolades for Oregon's own Gerry Frank cannot be easily summarized. Simply stated, Gerry Frank is Oregon, said the Rose Festival announcement. It's fitting to find him featured in the 'Celebrate Oregon' section of this year's parade.
The foundation noted that Frank was picked because his energy and expertise have profoundly impacted Oregon's evolution.
The Grand Floral Parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.
