PORTLAND, Oregon — It's the third weekend in May, which means another weekend closer to summer — the sun will be shining on Friday.
This weekend brings the Portland Bridal & Wedding Expo, an annual art walk at Mt. Tabor, a performance by award-winning artist Charlotte Day Wilson, the McMenamins UFO Festival and much more.

McMenamins UFO Festival
When: May 17-18
Where: McMenamins Hotel Oregon, 310 Northeast Evans Street, McMinnville, OR
What's going on: The 24rd annual UFO Festival makes its landing this weekend. Take a short trip south to experience all the fun and excitement. The fest will feature live music, fun runs, costume contests, a live podcast recording, sci-fi films and so much more. The event began as a way to honor the famous and alleged 1950 UFO sighting on a farm outside of McMinnville.

Mt. Tabor Art Walk
When: May 18-19
Where: Mt. Tabor neighborhood
What's going on: It's the third weekend of May which means the return of the annual Mt. Tabor Art Walk. The event will showcase 38 different artists this year, and the art ranges from ceramics, fiber art, glass, mixed media and more. There will be 24 different sites throughout the Mt. Tabor neighborhood in Southeast Portland where many can view and purchase high-quality art produced by local artists. Some of the artists include Rachael Allen and Robin Bown, just to name a few.

Portland Bridal & Wedding Expo
When: May 19
Where: Portland Expo Center, 2060 North Marine Drive, Portland, OR
What's going on: Every season is wedding season! If you're planning a wedding but don't know where to start — start here! The wedding expo will feature wedding professionals excited to help you find the perfect dress, venue, music and more. It's time to turn your "dream wedding into a reality" this Sunday.

AANHPI Heritage Month celebration
When: May 4-31
Where: Lan Su Chinese Garden, 239 Northwest Everett Street, Portland
What's going on: Come out and join Lan Su Chinese Garden as it kicks off its four-week-long celebration of special cultural programs and performances for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage (AANHPI) Heritage Month. Portland's Chinese garden has partnered with more than 20 local cultural organizations to present and explore the history, traditions and arts of AANHPI cultures.

"Fame the Musical"
When: May 10-19, various times
Where: Metropolitan Performing Arts, 6403 East Mill Plain Boulevard, Vancouver, Washington
What's going on: Hit film and international musical "Fame" comes to the Metropolitan Performing Arts this spring. The musical was originally created by David De Silva and is based on the 1980 musical. There's also a book written by Jose Fernandez. The musical follows four teens throughout their high school journey at a performing arts high school, highlighting the hardship and triumphs that comes with the performing arts high school experience. The production is directed by Greg Shilling, the musical is directed by Melissa Sondergeld-Hood, and it is choreographed by Kemba Shannon. Tickets range from $11-20; People who use EBT SNAP cards can buy tickets for $5 for up to four people.

Charlotte Day Wilson
When: May 18, 8 p.m.
Where: Hawthorne Theatre, 1507 Southeast Cesar E. Chavez, Portland
What's going on: Toronto-based singer Charlotte Day Wilson will be performing in the Rose City this weekend. Known for her deep velvety vocals in R&B, her songs are fixated around the themes of longing, heartache and love. She recently released her latest album, Cyan Blue, which features a collaboration with fellow R&B heavy Snoh Aalegra. Wilson is also know for hit collaboration with R&B heavy hitter Daniel Caesar for their song "Transform." Tickets start at $30 and folks of all ages are able to attend.

The 9th Vanport Mosaic Festival
When: May 18 - June 1
Where: Various locations across Portland
What's going on: Vanport, once Oregon's second-largest city, was destroyed by a flood in 1948 that left 18,000 people homeless. In observance of the 76th anniversary of the flood, the 15-day festival of "memory activism" will commemorate the disaster with community-minded presentations, exhibits, documentary screenings, tours, and more. The event is free to all.

Oregon AAPI Food and Wine Fest
When: May 18 - 19
Where: Stoller Family Estate Dayton, 16161 Northeast McDougall Road, Dayton, Oregon
What's going on: It's Oregon Wine Month and AAPI Heritage Month. This weekend these two events come together to kick off the Oregon AAPI Food and Wine Fest. There's a stacked lineup of 22 AAPI-owned restaurants and wineries, including a mobile dry bar. Local eateries include Magna Kubo, Hapa Pizza, Xiao Ye, Yaowarat, Kim Jong Grillin, Frybaby and more. While sipping on wine from Cho Wines, Et Fille, Hundred Suns, Kristof Farms, and more. You get a passport to taste 12 bites and 10 wines, plus two tastes from the dry bar with a souvenir cup. Tickets range from $75 to $125.
