Well, it's officially here...Halloween weekend that is. The weather has been cooler and wet and it's safe to bring out the jack-o'-lanterns. This weekend has just about everything — a marathon, bar brawl, Hocus Pocus, vegan food market, beer walk, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, trunk-or-treat and a Día de Los Muertos celebration. 

Día de Los Muertos Celebration 

When: Oct. 29-30

Where: St. Andrews Catholic Church, 806 Northeast Alberta Street, Portland

What's going on: Muertos PDX is back with their celebration of Día de Los Muertos marketed as "La Quinceñera" marking its 15th year running. Experience live mariachi music, poem renditions, ballet folklorico and much more. All living and dead are welcomed. Kids are free and donations are asked to attend. Portions of the proceeds will benefit Immigration Counseling Services.

Run Like Hell Marathon

When: Oct. 29

Where: Elks Lodge, 13121 Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard, Milwaukie

What's goin on: Get ready to quite literally "run like hell" in this fun, family-friendly Halloween-themed marathon. Grab your kids and dress in your costumes to join in on the fun. The theme for this year is retro video games. This is also great practice for a zombie apocalypse.

Hocus Pocus in Concert

When: Oct. 29-30

Where: Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 Southwest Broadway, Portland

What's going on: The Sanderson sisters are running amok this weekend — not physically. The witches are back on the big screen in downtown Portland. What better way to celebrate Halloween weekend than watching Hocus Pocus in Concert. Filled with bewitching laughs and magic, this hilarious cult film classic is perfect for the entire family.

Waking the Dead

When: Oct. 30

Where: 3000 Columbia House Boulevard, Vancouver

What's going on: This is Vancouver's biggest Halloween party and you don't want miss it. This is event is family-friendly and the best part.....FREE. There's going to be live music, performances, a thriller flash mob, tacos and lots and lots of candy of course. Grab your costumes and join the fun.

Halloween Bar Crawl

When: Oct. 29

Where: Dante's, 350 West Burnside Street, Portland and other locations

What's going on: Join the event that just keeps getting bigger — Halloween Bar Crawl. One ticket and various venues with deals to die for. More than 1,250 crawlers are expected this year. There will also be a $1,000 grand prize costume contest.

5K Fun Run - LEVEL Beer

When: Oct. 29

Where: Level Beer, 5211 Northeast 148th Avenue, Portland

What's going on: Beer lovers, which there's tons of you here in Portland, Oregon Brewery Running Series is hosting their annual costume-themed fun run — or walk — where FREE craft beer is awarded, plus your chance to win other prizes. It is described as a life of adventure event and intended for those that are 21+ years. Four-legged running buddies are welcomed.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

When: Oct. 30

Where: Alberta Abbey, 126 Northeast Alberta Street, Portland 

What's going on: It's time to do the warp again! Head over to Alberta Abbey to begin your Halloween shenanigans with a cult midnight classic showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. They will have prop bags available to purchase and two show times as well. The event is said to be an all around good time.

Halloween Vegan Night Market Portland 2022

When: Oct. 30

Where: The Redd, 831 Southeast Salmon Street, Portland 

What's going on: Music, trick-or-treating, costume contest, more than 60 vendors and endless spooky fun. Veggies Do It Better is inviting all omnivores and herbivores alike to a spooktacular time at their highly anticipated Halloween Vegan Night Market. It's free and open to all creatures — including those leashed.
