PORTLAND, Oregon — It happens, waiting till the very last minute scrambling to find a makeshift Halloween costume. Halloween has officially arrived, meaning many creepy, crawly and terrifying events across the metro area. October is nearly over, and the holiday season is upon us, bringing in seasonal décor and rainy Portland weather.
Right before Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas" officially transitions us into the holiday season, here is our special last-minute Halloween list of 8 things to do.
Queens & Screams!
When: Oct. 31, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: The Pharmacy PDX, 2100 Northwest Glisan Street Portland, Ore.
What's going on: Do you enjoy screaming, dancing or singing? You're in luck if you're looking for an evening filled with drag queens serving looks and giving larger-than-life performances. The Pharmacy PDX is the place to be tonight with Devlin Lynn Phoenixx taking the stage. Tickets are just $10.
Bollywood Horror XXI Dance Party
When: Oct. 31, 9 p.m.
Where: The Goodfoot Pub & Lounge, 2845 Southeast Stark Street, Portland, Ore.
What's going on: Look to get your thriller on and dance the night away? Head over to a Bollywood horror fusion-inspired dance party. DJ Anjali and the Incredible Kid will be posting and providing wicked sounds. Tickets are still available for only $15.
Trick or Treat & Halloween Party
When: Oct. 31, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: McMenamins Grand Lodge, 3505 Pacific Avenue, Forest Grove, Ore.
What's going on: Look for an evening filled with a Jack-O-Lantern jamboree, costume contests, trick or treating or just straight dancing? McMenamins got you covered for all the ghoulish filled activities, so bring the kiddos out.
Oaks Park Scaregrounds
When: Oct. 6 - Nov. 4, Various times
Where: Oaks Amusement Park & Roller Skating Rink, 7805 Southeast Oaks Park Way, Portland, Ore.
What's going on: Oaks Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in Portland, will be putting on three horrifying haunted walkthrough attractions, amusement rides and themed side attractions. There will also be mini golf, roller skating, concessions and more. Alcoholic drinks will be available for anyone over 21. Tickets are still available.
Black Lagoon Halloween Bar Pop-up
When: Oct. 31, Various times
Where: Dirty Pretty, 638 East Burnside Street, Portland, Ore.
What's going on: Time to dust off your finest Halloween fashions and show out at the Black Lagoon pop-up. Portland's Dirty Pretty will be hosting this year's pop-up in Portland. The pop-up experience was curated by bartenders Erin Hayes and Kelsey Ramage in New Orleans in 2019. Featuring dungeon-esque décor and delicious creepy crawly cocktail creations such as "Hellfire Fizz," "Book of Blood," "Death Rattle" and more, the pop-up will be in town until Halloween.
Underhill Haunted House
When: Oct. 31, 7 p.m.
Where: Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 300 North Ramsay Wy, Portland, Ore.
What's going on: Are you ready to take on the Trio of Terror? The Underhill Haunted House is hosting three haunted houses: The Salvage Yard, Terror Ship, and of course, the Underground Manor. Tickets start at $30, but a family ticket package is also available. Enter at your own risk.
R&BOO, a Halloween Costume Party
When: Oct. 31, Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.
Where: Alberta Street Pub, 1036 Northeast Alberta Street, Portland, Ore.
What's going on: Looking for the perfect Halloween date night for you and your boo? PDX Soul is putting on a soulful dance party with the "Brown Eye Lover" crooner Allen Stone. Stone will also be a judge for the Halloween contest; prizes will be given to best individual and group/couple costumes. Be ready to groove and have a hauntingly good time. Tickets are still available.
Spirit of Halloweentown
When: Sept. 16-Oct. 31, various times
Where: Spirit of Halloweentown, 275 Strand Street, St. Helens, Ore.
What's going on: Halloween isn't here yet, but that doesn't mean the celebrations haven't started. The town of St. Helens, Oregon is getting festive and marking Halloween during the entire month of October. St. Helens was the backdrop for the classic Disney Channel movie, "Halloweentown," which was filmed in 1998. Every year, part of the town is transformed into a month-long celebration of all things spooky and creepy, drawing tens of thousands of people. There are a number of special events and family-friendly attractions held on weekends, including a costume contest with cash prizes. Tickets for general admission and special attractions are available by the entrance arch on South First Street. All parking is free on weekdays, but weekend parking is $15.
