PORTLAND, Oregon — We're another week into spring in Portland; where has the time gone? We are officially headed into the third weekend of April, and we're another week closer to summer, meaning more to do across the Rose City.
If you're looking for something fun to do, you have options this Earth Day weekend — from a mountain film and book festival to an Earth Day event in Scappoose. No matter what you're in the mood for, there's something for everyone.

BANFF Center Mountain Film and Book Festival
When: Now until April 20, 6 p.m.
Where: Revolution Hall, 1300 Southeast Stark Street #203, Portland
What's going on: The BANFF Centre for Arts and Creativity will be hosting the Mountain Film and Book Festival from now until Saturday. All in celebration of mountain culture! The BANFF Center highlights understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share and find inspiration in mountain experiences, ideas and vision. Thursday and Friday have already sold out, but tickets are still available for Saturday. The featured films for Saturday include "Desert Wings," "Range Rider," "The Blackcountry Journal," "Canada Vertical (Tour Edit)," "Sea to Sky Trail Series: Progression, Soundscape, Driving Sweep, and Pioneers: Tandem XC Skiing." Tickets are $20.

Scappoose Earth Day
When: April 21, 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Where: Heritage Park, 52469 Southeast 2nd Street, Scappoose
What's going on: Earth Day weekend is upon us — looking for a way to cater to the environment? The city of Scappoose is hosting an Earth Day event. There will be a drawing for a free electric bike at 2:30 p.m., and free burgers and hot dogs will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come out and go green to save green!

Helium presents: Shannon Fiedler
When: April 21
Where: Helium Comedy Club, 1510 Southeast 9th Avenue, Portland
What's going on: Looking for a good laugh this weekend? Well, you're in luck! New York comedian, writer and content creator Shannon Fiedler is stopping by the Rose City at the Helium Comedy Club this weekend. Fiedler is recognized for her relatable — albeit exaggerated — social media characters, taking everyday situations and humorizing them. From her “city girls” series, taking on regional tropes with an over-the-top and unexpected spin, from the preppy Connecticut Girl to the brash Bostonian to the naive Minnesotan. PNW Reptile and Exotic Animal Show
When: April 20, 21
Where: Westside Commons, 801 Northeast 34th Avenue, Hillsboro
What's going on: Do you consider yourself an animal person? If so, the Pacific Northwest Reptile and Exotic Animal Show will be hosting a gathering of reptile, exotics, and plants this weekend. The show has been operating since 1995; there will be many breeders and hobbyists from the Pacific Northwest in attendance. Tickets are $15 per adult and $7 per child.

A Year with Frog and Toad
When: April 6-28
Where: The Judy Kafoury Center for Youth Arts, 1000 Southwest Broadway, Portland
What's going on: Get ready to leap out of hibernation with one of Portland's latest musicals. The musical "A Year with Frog and Toad" is based on Arnold Lobel's well-known characters, Frog and Toad. Join best friends Frog and Toad as they hop, sing, and dance through a year of adventure. The show highlights the value of friendship and has a jazzy, upbeat score that will have the whole family hopping on their toes.

Where: Multiple locations across Portland
What's going on: Portland's cherry blossoms aren’t to be missed. Around this time of year, you can catch them across the Portland metro area. They are a sight to be seen down at the waterfront; specifically, Tom McCall Waterfront Park is a great place to catch them.
When: Now until April 28
Where: Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, 33814 South Meridian Road, Woodburn
What's going on: Spring is officially here, and the city of Woodburn is ready to show off its colorful burst of flowers. Each spring, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival draws thousands to come and witness the acres of tulip fields in full bloom. In addition, the festival will also have a gift shop, pony rides and more. Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom
When: Every Tuesday through Sunday until April 21
Where: OMSI, 1945 SE Water Avenue, Portland
What's going on: The Oregon Museum of Science and Innovation is bringing live animals to its "Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom" exhibit. The exhibit examines the self-defense mechanisms of 16 different animals, from armor-like skin to venom and poison. Attendees will have the opportunity to touch some of the animals. Tickets start at $14.
