PORTLAND, Oregon — Where has the time gone? We are officially headed into the second weekend of March, another week closer to summer, meaning more to do across the Rose City. 

If you're looking for something fun to do, you have options: from a goth market to highlighting female craft beer and cider at the SheBrew Beer Festival to celebrating women in film at the Hollywood Theatre — no matter what you're in the mood for, there's something for everyone.

SheBrew Beer Festival

When: March 10
Where: The Redd on Salmon, 831 SE Salmon Street, Portland
What's going on: Try drinks made by 40+ local female craft beer and cider brewers at the ninth annual SheBrew Beer Festival. Tickets, which include up to 10 tasting tokens and a commemorative glass depending on the ticket package. The festival supports all womxn and the LGBTQ community. Proceeds go to the Human Rights Campaign. Tickets start at $30.

Oregon Symphony: SAINT-SAËNS’ Organ Symphony and Violinist James Ehnes

When: March 9-11
Where: Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 SW Broadway, Portland
What's going on: Seeking an evening filled with as described by the New York Times “velvety sound and sensitivity” from violinist James Ehnes. Be prepared to hear the unleashing of the grandeur of the pipe organ in a symphony that embraces serenity and scales heights of euphoria. Tickets start at $37.

Feminist March 2024

When: Everyday though March 31
Where: Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Boulevard, Portland
What's going on: It's officially Women's History Month, and what better way to highlight the contribution of women by attending the Hollywood Theatre's Feminist March month long film screening event? All month long, the theatre will screen films celebrating women in film, with 19 films featured. A few featured films include Dreamgirls, Certain Women, Bring It On, Wonder Woman and more. Tickets start at $10.

Coffin Club Dark Market

When: March 10, 2-8 p.m.
Where: Coffin Club, 421 SE Grand, Portland
What's going on: One of Portland's goth bars, Coffin Club, is hosting a macabre market this weekend with two floors filled with vendors selling art, jewelry, home décor, books and more. There will be plenty of vegan food and baked goodies for sale on the back patio of the Coffin Club. The event is 21 and up only. Tickets start at $2.

Live Action Oscar Nominated Short Films

When: Every day through March 10
Where: Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Boulevard, Portland
What's going on: Are you quick to center your day around watching the Oscars award show? Are you passionate about the Oscars, specifically the nominated short films? Well, here's a great opportunity for you: The Hollywood Theatre will be screening the nominees in the live action, animation and documentary categories. Kickstand Improv Jam

When: March 10
Where: Kickstand Comedy Ladd's Addition, 1006 SE Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland
What's going on: The comedic community at Kickstand Comedy Ladd's Addition, a comedy training center, is extending an open invitation for all PDX improv students and performers to the Kickstand Improv Jam. The event will be hosted by a rotating crew of Kickstand teams. Tickets start at $5.

Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom

When: Every Tuesday through Sunday until April 21
Where: OMSI, 1945 SE Water Avenue, Portland
What's going on: The Oregon Museum of Science and Innovation is bringing live animals at its "Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom" exhibit. The exhibit examines the self-defense mechanisms of 16 different animals, from armor-like skin to venom and poison. Attendees will have the opportunity to touch some of the animals. Tickets start at $14.

2024 Buckman Art Show & Sell

When: March 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Buckman Arts Elementary School, 320 SE 16th Avenue, Portland
What's going on: The Buckman Art Show and Sell has raised money to support art education at the elementary school for 34 years. There will be over a hundred local artisans with various works of art from ceramics to jewelry, student and alumni art will also be for sale. Face painting and "fairy hair" stations will be available for kids, in addition to food trucks onsite. A $5 donation is suggested at the door.
