PORTLAND, Oregon — It's finally May and there's so much happening. We have Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, a few heritage months, Mental Health Awareness and Memorial Day. But for this first weekend, all the buzz is about the annual return of Portland's Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

Portland Cinco De Mayo Fiesta

Where: Tom Mccall Waterfront Park, 98 Southwest Naito Parkway, Portland, OR
What's going on: Portland's largest fiesta is back this weekend! The three-day event will return to Tom McCall Waterfront and run Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day. It will feature performances by a Mexican folk dancing troupe and internationally known mariachi bands and singers, including Mariachi Ciudad De Guadalajara, Grupo Control and more. There will also be carnival rides and cultural crafts and games for kids.

Asian Heritage Month
When: May 4-31
Where: Lan Su Chinese Garden, 239 Northwest Everett Street, Portland, OR
What's going on: Come out and join Lan Su Chinese Garden as it kicks off its four-week-long celebration of special cultural programs and performances for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Portland's Chinese garden has partnered with more than 20 local cultural organizations to present and explore the history, traditions and arts of AANHPI cultures.

21 Savage: American Dream Tour
When: May 5, 7 p.m.
Where: RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, 17200 Northeast Delfel Road, Ridgefield, WA
What's going on: Rapper 21 Savage is known for hits such as "Bank Account," from his 2017’s Issa Album, “No Heart” with Metro Boomin, and a feature on Post Malone’s hit song "Rockstar." The Atlanta-based, London-born rapper will be ripping the stage this weekend on his American Dream Tour, fixated on the experiences of Black immigrants while intertwining classic trap sounds to his storytelling. The tour will also feature artists such as Nardo Wick, 21 Lil Harold, and J.I.D. with his hit song featuring 21 Savage "Surround Sound" that took TikTok by storm with the "Surround Sound" challenge.

RIP City Comedy Festival
When: May 2-4
Where: Multiple locations across Portland, Portland, OR
What's going on: Multiple comedic spaces across the Rose City will be hosting the RIP City Comedy Festival. Be prepared for three days of laughter from nationally known comics and local comedic acts. If you're looking for a good laugh this weekend, this is the event for you.

Nano Beer Festival
When: May 3-5
Where: John's Marketplace, 3535 Southwest Multnomah Boulevard, Portland, OR
What's going on: The owners of Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub founded the Nano Beer Festival back in 2008. 16 years filled with rare beers, ciders and mead, and now, it has since grown into a bi-annual event filled with small batch beers, ciders and mead made by many within the local craft industry. The three-day event kicks off this weekend at Portland's Multnomah Village.

Portland Derby

What's going on: Another event returning to Portland after is the 17th installment of the Portland Derby. A social event filled with fashion, roses, mint juleps, dancing and more. There will be over $2,500 in prizes for best dressed, making it the perfect reason to get your derby giddy up on.

Crafty Wonderland

Bridgetown and Bluegrass Folk Festival
When: May 4, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Where: First Congregational Church, 1126 Southwest Park Avenue, Portland, OR
What's going on: This Saturday kicks off the one-day, all-day festival in the heart of Portland's downtown arts district at the First Congregational Church. The festival is dedicated to preserving traditional music and foster the growth of supporting local talented artists and offering educational programs to the public. There will be 15 bands, classes, live performances and a selection of beverages, along with delectable options from food carts.
