PORTLAND, Ore. — Stephanie Domurat is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who joined KGW-TV as Managing Editor in September 2023. She helps lead day-to-day editorial coverage for all platforms and plans special events, including coverage of station initiatives and campaigns. Stephanie also co-anchors the 4 p.m. news each weekday. Before joining KGW, Stephanie worked as an anchor and reporter for nearly fifteen years. She has been recognized multiple times for her work and is passionate about the power of local journalism.

Stephanie’s journalism career began in April 2008 as a general assignment reporter at KULR-TV in Billings, MT. Since then, she has worked in markets across the country, including Portland, OR, Charlotte, NC, Eugene, OR, and Waco, TX. When she moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2015, she was struck by its beauty, and since then, it has become home. In 2015, Stephanie was awarded a Regional Emmy for her anchoring and coverage of a mass shooting at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon.

She was born in Western New York (Go Bills!) but raised in Southern California. Stephanie first fell in love with journalism as an intern at KOCE, the local PBS affiliate in Orange County, California. She attended Chapman University and graduated from the Dodge School of Film and Television. During her education, she interned and reported at three stations across Orange County and Los Angeles, including KCBS-TV, KCAL-TV, and KOCE-TV.

Stephanie's favorite aspect of journalism is calling attention to issues that matter to the community. She feels fortunate to share incredible stories as part of her job. As a reporter, she has been touched by many stories, but one of her most memorable was covering the Big Sky Honor Flight from Billings, Montana, to Washington, D.C. This trip allowed her to witness and share the journey of nearly 100 World War II veterans visiting their memorial.

Stephanie has covered and field-anchored numerous events, including a fertilizer plant explosion in West, TX, the tragic mass shooting at Umpqua Community College, the Olympic trials in Track & Field in Eugene, Oregon, and President Obama’s visit to Roseburg, Oregon. She has also covered the resignation of Governor John Kitzhaber and the 2016 Presidential race, including then-candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. Stephanie was the only local news reporter in the room when Barack Obama made a surprise visit to a home in Billings, Montana, during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Stephanie has a passion for health and medical reporting. She has completed several semesters of post-baccalaureate education in physical and social sciences. She spent a summer as a neuroscience research assistant in the Department of Biology at Cal Poly Pomona. Stephanie has also worked as a community education manager advocating for victims of domestic and sexual violence. She has volunteered with multiple organizations, including A Family for Every Child, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Texas Lions Camp.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys the outdoors, live music, great food, and new adventures. She is married to her wonderful husband Lee and is a mom to her dog, cat, and potbelly pig.
