PORTLAND, Ore. — Blair Best is an Emmy-award winning reporter at KGW covering the city's homeless and addiction crisis.
Prior to moving to the West Coast, she was a reporter and anchor at WGME in Portland, Maine. There she reported on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic with a focus on the homelessness and housing crisis.
Best is a compassionate reporter with a track-record for getting results. In direct response to some of her work, new state legislation has been introduced. Through her reporting at KGW, she's worked with outreach workers to move chronically homeless people she met while reporting on the streets into transitional housing. She recently helped a 26-year-old pregnant woman who ended up homeless after leaving foster care move into housing six months before her due date.
Prior to her TV career, she worked on the assignment desk and reported for several newspapers and magazines.
Originally from a small fishing town on the coast of Maine, Best graduated with honors from New York University where she studied acting and journalism. When not at work, she enjoys hiking, visiting the coast as much as possible and exploring all the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
