PORTLAND, Ore. — KGW has been nominated 25 times in the 2018 Northwest Emmy® awards by the Northwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) in a competition that includes the Seattle market. KGW earned more nominations than any other Portland commercial television station, and it was the only Portland commercial station nominated for overall excellence.
The nominations for outstanding work spanned every aspect of journalism from best morning and evening newscasts, spot news, team coverage, general assignment reporting, feature news reporting, business consumer reporting, crime story/series, sports-news story/series, health/science reporting and community affairs. The KGW marketing team was nominated three times for best news promo campaign, in addition to best community/public service spot and best commercial.
Nominations for individual achievement included best sports anchor, best reporter, best writer, best photographer and best audio.
