PORTLAND, Ore. -- After Saturday's winds on the Oregon coast and the Portland area peaked at around 40-50 mph, Sunday should be breezy through midday, with steady rain transitioning to scattered showers in the afternoon.
A Winter Storm Warning has been posted for the Cascades. Travel might be difficult through the passes with more than a foot of snow expected above 4,000 feet Sunday morning.
A High Wind Warning from the National Weather Service ends at 11 a.m. Sunday.
On Saturday, gusts peaked at 53 mph in Astoria, 45 mph in Salem and 40 mph at Portland International Airport, according to KGW meteorologist Rod Hill. Winds in Portland ranged from 25-35 mph throughout most of the day.
There were spots throughout the valley where trees and power lines came down Saturday. A large limb fell onto a home at Southeast 26th Avenue and Caruthers Street in Portland.
The wind didn't cause extended power outages. At one point Saturday afternoon, more than 4,000 PGE customers were without power in Clackamas County but that number was quickly lowered.

In addition to the wind, rain poured throughout the area. Portland had more than a half-inch of rain by 5 p.m. Saturday, Hill said. The National Weather Service said through Sunday, weekend rain totals are expected to range from 1-1.5 inches.
Portland Parks and Recreation closed all sports and baseball/softball fields through the weekend due to wet conditions.
