Carmelo Anthony won't make Blazers debut until Tuesday at the earliest, ESPN reports

Anthony, a 10-time NBA All-Star, has not played in the NBA since early last season.

PORTLAND, Ore — It’s almost been 24 hours since news broke of the Portland Trail Blazers’ plan to sign former All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony.

Now, we have a better idea of when fans may get to see him on the court.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the earliest Anthony will play for Portland is Tuesday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Anthony, a 10-time NBA All-Star, has not played in the NBA since last season. He played in 10 games for the Houston Rockets before being traded to the Chicago Bulls, who waived him.

Anthony is a free agent and has to complete his physical before his non-guaranteed contract with the Blazers is finalized, Wojnarowski reported.

Anthony, 35, could potentially fill a hole at power forward for the Blazers, who lack depth at the position. Starting power forward Zach Collins is out until February at the earliest after having surgery to repair his dislocated shoulder.
