LA CENTER, Wash. — Two men died after a small single-engine plane crashed into a marsh in Clark County, south of La Center, the sheriff's office said.
A pilot spotted the crash on Monday afternoon and directed authorities to the scene while circling overhead.
"Not really sure when the crash occurred," said Sgt. Fred Neiman with the Clark County Sheriff's Office. "It appears to be relatively recent, it's not days old or anything like that."
It’s unclear what caused the crash.
The plane went down in about two feet of water, the sheriff's office said.
The pilot was identified Wednesday as 73-year-old Milo Kays, of Camas. The passenger was identified as 70-year-old Dennis Kozacek, of Ridgefield.
The plane was registered in Clark County.
The Federal Aviation Administration will continue to investigate the crash.
