PORTLAND, Oregon — A body was recovered from the Willamette River near the Steel Bridge on Sunday, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday at around 12:36 p.m., 911 received a call from someone who reported seeing a body in the water, the sheriff’s office stated.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and secured the body. A Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office boat responded and recovered the body from the river, MCSO said.
The body was then transported to Cathedral Park and the county medical examiner took custody of the body. Details regarding the identify and cause of death of the deceased individuals are under investigation.
MCSO said a death investigation alongside the medical examiner's investigation is underway.
