Horizon flight makes emergency landing at PDX after smoke scare

Horizon Air flight operated on behalf of Alaska Airlines returns to Portland after smoke was smelled inside the cabin.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Horizon Air flight headed from Portland to Albuquerque was turned around shortly after take off and returned to Portland Saturday morning.

Flight 2794 made an emergency landing at Portland International Airport after smoke was smelled inside the cabin.

The flight took off from PDX at 9:11 a.m. and returned to the airport at 10 a.m.

There were no reports of injuries.

Alaska Airlines released the following the statement on the flight:

"Horizon Air flight 2794, from Portland to Albuquerque, returned to Portland after a smoke smell was detected by the crew. No smoke was visible but out an abundance of caution, the caption opted to return to Portland. While the aircraft did declare an emergency, the plane landed safely in Portland at 10 a.m. Passengers are being re-accommodated on a different aircraft and will continue on to Albuquerque."
