BEAVERTON, Ore. — A female cashier was punched in the head by a stranger on Sunday afternoon while she was helping customers at a Fred Meyer in Beaverton, police say.

"I was helping a lady out with a gift card and a gentleman came out of nowhere and decided it would be really cool to punch me in the face," said Lisa Seeling.

The attack happened at around 3:20 p.m. at the Fred Meyer at 15995 Southwest Walker Road, when the suspect, 44-year-old Hathasone Pathammavong, walked up to the cashier, Seeling, and punched her.

"Didn't talk to him, didn't know anything, knew nothing of him, just walked up, punched me and tried to leave," she said.

Pathammavong tried to leave but was held down by bystanders until officers arrived. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

Seeling suffered a fractured Zygomatic bone in her face, which will require surgery.

"I actually have a dent in my face cause of it."

Police said they don't know why the suspect attacked the victim. Seeling and Pathammavong did not know each other and Seeling told police she had never seen the suspect before the assault.

"I just want everyone to know he screwed up but I don't hate him, I don't hate anybody, I just want him to do his time and be accountable for his actions," Seeling said.
