KELSO, Wash. — A Cowlitz County corrections officer was arrested Wednesday for having sexual contact with a female inmate and giving her marijuana, police said.
The suspect, 50-year-old Kelly Burgin, is being held in the Clark County Jail and will be arraigned Thursday in Cowlitz County, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office. He faces several charges, including second-degree custodial sexual misconduct and unlawful delivery of marijuana.
Burgin, of Castle Rock, was a corrections officer for Cowlitz County for about 3 months. He was fired Wednesday.
The victim's name will not be released. She is being cooperative and remains in custody, police said.
