Teen arrested after threat to Gervais, Woodburn schools

Gervais High School was temporarily placed into lockdown as a precaution when the teen was arrested. No one was hurt.

GERVAIS, Ore. – Police arrested a 17-year-old Gervais boy Friday afternoon in connection with a threat to made to multiple schools on social media.

Woodburn police was first made aware of the threats against the Woodburn and Gervais school districts at around midnight.

In response, both districts brought in additional officers to patrol campuses. As the day progressed, police continued to receive threats on social media, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Police identified the person believed to be responsible for the threats and arrested the teen at his home at around 2:45 p.m.

Gervais High School was temporarily placed into lockdown as a precaution when the teen was arrested. No one was hurt.

Students were released shortly after the lockdown and Marion County sheriff’s deputies remained nearby as a precaution while students went home.
