SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A Springfield woman claimed a $3 million Mega Millions jackpot, the largest Mega Millions prize ever in Oregon, lottery officials said.

Ann Mingus bought a ticket after seeing a billboard advertising the large jackpot.

“As I am driving along I am doing the math in my head, and I thought that $3 million would do it,” Mingus said. “Turns out, I had the $3 million ticket!”

Mingus didn't check her ticket until after hearing news that someone purchased a winning ticket in Cottage Grove. Shen then checked and realized she was the winner, according to Oregon Lottery.

The winning numbers for the Nov. 30 drawing were 25-28-40-43-63 with a Mega Ball of 19. Mingus won $1 million by matching the five non-Mega Ball numbers. She selected a Megaplier option, which costs an extra $1, and in Mingus’ case, her Megaplier was 3, meaning she won $3 million.

Mingus didn’t initially tell family members when she won. Instead, she contacted an attorney and hired a financial planner. She told family members after a few weeks.

Mingus bought her ticket at the Cottage Grove Safeway from a Lottery To Go machine, lottery officials said.
