TUALATIN, Ore. -- Kirstyn Rossman says she was in the right place at the right time.
David Brenner was running the Portland Marathon last October when he had a heart attack. Rossman stopped running and started CPR. She kept it up until paramedics arrived.
On Friday, Rossman got a life saving award from the American Heart Association.
To her surprise, Brenner was there for the presentation.
Brenner says “it was the right person at the right time.” Rossman doesn’t consider herself a hero.
“I do believe it was a timing thing but I believe anyone I know would have done the same," she said.
Brenner also got his Portland Marathon medal and T-shirt. He plans to come back to run the half marathon next year and says Rossman will be right there with him.
